Inspired by eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, these pieces reprocess estranged personal childhood memories. Energetic neon lines, vivid washes of color, and childlike imagery transport the viewer to a smoky childhood picnic, snippets of power lines, and house windows that were once seen from the backseat car rides, without a seatbelt on. The layering of different media alludes to how our accumulation of personal memories can simultaneously color and infiltrate our new experiences in time.

"the Turtle Return"
when mom and dad decided
they no longer wanted our two turtles anymore.
I remember the day when dad brought them to school for show and tell day, I was filled with joy.
but one day they didn’t want them anymore.
we drove to Petco, dad casually led us back to the aquarium section, lifted the lid on the turtle tank and put them back.
that was that.
