lost sensations

Essentially overwhelming daydreams, these abstract mixed media paintings explore how emotions and personal memory alter our perceptions of time.  Jagged edges, awkward lines, imperfect shapes, layers of color and photographs intertwine, often reimagining a landscape space as a personal multiverse of memories and sensations.  Loaded within each layer are conflicting emotions such as anxiety induced by time and mortality, reminiscing over sweet nonstalgic flashback, and uneasy feelings surrounding identity and what it means to be a human, woman, and a mother in our current time.

Silver gelatin prints, image transfers, decals, polaroids, oil sticks, charcoal, graphite and various paints build upon, play and react to one another until a harmonious sanctuary is created to make space for these incongruous experiences.  Improvised marks and often disruptive forms of paint to the figure and space, allude to how involuntary memories can seep into our consciousness at any given moment when met with particular sensations such as smells, sounds and sights.  Through these processes, an emergence of self-consciousness unfolds as our bodily and emotional experiences simultaneously expand and unravel in time.
