TRIUMPHANTLY BLACK
Through the process of shooting double exposures on medium format color film, washes of black ink were painted on wet paper, then photographed over a portrait that had already been taken. The uncontrollable spread of the ink and how it might appear on the final portrait or not knowing how the quality of the exposure will be impacted, all represent the lack of control and adversity that Black people experience in their everyday lives of encountering racism in America.
