Lillian Chun is an artist, photographer and art educator based in Ellicott City, MD, originally from Allentown, PA. Lillian attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD, where she received a Masters in Art Teaching (MAT) in 2012 and a Bachelors in Fine Art (BFA) in 2011. Moments of personal paradox, complicated experiences within our memories and honoring anxiety among womxn, are often subjects within her mixed media paintings and photographs.
As her work blurs boundaries between real life and abstraction, Lillian aims to expose and honor vulnerable moments that are often behind the scenes or too vulnerable for everyday life situations. With an unusually painful background story of childhood trauma and loss at an early age, Lillian was broken wide open as a result and carries a heightened sensitivity and awareness to the complex emotions and anxiety that womxn’s bodies carry over time. This work has become a route for self-discovery and helping others uncover these cavernous layers that weigh us down.
