frayed
Inspired by eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, these pieces reprocess estranged personal childhood memories. Energetic neon lines, vivid washes of color, and childlike imagery transport the viewer to a smoky childhood picnic, snippets of power lines, and house windows that were once seen from the backseat car rides, without a seatbelt on. The layering of different media alludes to how our accumulation of personal memories can simultaneously color and infiltrate our new experiences in time.
